libavcodec-extra software package provides Libav codec library (additional codecs meta-package), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libavcodec-extra
libavcodec-extra is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libavcodec-extra package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libavcodec-extra *
You will get with libavcodec-extra package name, version, architecture and description in a table
